Hello everyone it has been a while and February is already here which means the year is already moving so fast. As we move further into this year let’s be mindful of our bodies, our lives, and how we want to feel at the end of each day, week or month. Showing up for ourselves is one of the hardest things to do these days in such a face past world.
Working out and committing to a fitness routine is hard work and we all go through this phase at some point, but what’s even harder is feeling like you are starting over each time when you’ve taken a break or missed a class. Making that commitment to yourself and scheduling that time is one of the best things you can do to take that struggle out of the equation. There will be times that you’re not feeling “it” or you want to curl up into a ball and snuggle but there’s always tomorrow and you can always get back on track and you will.
Below is the first of 7 tips to keep you motivated as we move through these cold months ahead, just remember that many people start fitness programs but stop when they get bored or results come too slowly. Stay motivated and remember being fit and healthy is a way of life not a passing fade.
1. Set goals
Start with simple goals and then progress to longer range goals. Remember to make your goals realistic and achievable. It’s easy to get frustrated and give up if your goals are too ambitious. For example, if you haven’t exercised in a while, a short-term goal might be to walk 10 minutes a day three days a week. If being in a class works better then schedule 1 class per week for a month, then 2 and so on. If you’re already in a class then try 5 modified push-ups then 10, then 5 regular push then push up with your feet alternating.
Keep that mind body connection going in class and don’t hesitate to ask questions because chances are someone wanted to ask the same thing. Focus and your time and your workout and not what others are doing next to you in class…..we all have things we are working on.
